Around 100 students from Grade 6 to Grade 9 of Mount Litera School International (MLSI), an IB school in Mumbai celebrated Valentine’s Day with a difference. They tried spreading love in the community by visiting various NGOs. They spent time with the underprivileged and specially abled kids and taught them to use Microsoft Power Point besides reading fun stories and making crafts with them.
The students visited Angel Xpress Foundation (Santacruz), Spark A Change foundation (Juhu), Society for the Education of the challenged – SEC (Santacruz) and Father Agnels Ashram for Boys (Bandra Bandstand) where they spent some quality time teaching other fellow children the basics of using Microsoft Power Point. Few students also read out interesting stories from their books and few others made book marks and other crafts.
Sharing his views on the initiative, Mr. Vishnu Sharma, Head of secondary – Mount Litera School International said, “Valentine’s Day is celebrated globally as a day of love and we wanted our students to spread the same amongst the community. We wanted them to experience the love of giving and sharing and break the stereotype that Valentine’s Day could only be celebrated between two partners. The students have come back happy from their visit and have promised to keep visiting their new friends!”
