The Mother India’s Crochet Queens (MICQ) after marching their way into the Guinness Book of World Records thrice are now engaging themselves in two social causes: crochet beanies or caps for Cancer kids and an on- going project called the Army Brothers project.

While Cowls and caps in pre-approved army yarn colours are being crocheted and are due for gifting to Indian Army as a sign of solidarity for their selfless services, in November 2018; the Cancer Beanies were created, sanitized, packed and distributed along with “Hook a Stitch” on April 17, 2018 at three Centres belonging to St. Judes in Mumbai- Cotton Green, Parel and Kharghar amongst a total of 250 children.

“MICQ has also undertaken an initiative to empower the families of these children, by teaching them the delicate art of crocheting,” said Subhasri Natarajan, Founder, MICQ.

The members also distributed the coveted Guinness World Record Certificate for their recently achieved – World largest display of crochet sculptures record.

“MICQ is determined to do everything in their might to justify their mission – Go Green – Save Earth,” said Mallika Natarajan from MICQ

The group has already set its sights onto their next two attempts in the year 2019. They now aim to break the existing record for the largest number of people crocheting simultaneously and their fifth attempt will be at making the world’s largest collection of Christmas toys.

It may be recalled that MICQ has achieved the following World Records : Largest Crochet Blanket in the world (11, 148 sqmts); Longest crocheted scarf on May 21, 2017 (14.089 kms); Largest Display of Crochet Sculptures (58917 items).
