A salad is a dish consisting of a mixture of raw small pieces of mainly vegetables or even at times fruits’. It is a source of fibre and antioxidants which is essential for a healthy living.
Due to its high quotient of fibre, salad is useful in losing weight, controlling blood sugar levels, and lipid levels. It can also be a substitute to a snack- as it is low in calorie. While making a salad one must always keep these things in mind:
1) Use fresh and clean ingredients
2) Use variety of vegetables or fruit
3) Use spices like jeera, pepper, coriander powder, lime juice etc. for flavours and as well as for its health benefits
4) Do not use heavy salad dressing made up of mayonnaise, cream, cheese etc.
5) Olive oil can be added as it is rich in mufa
6) Consume salad before the main course during lunch and dinner
Ingredients
Cucumber, tomatoes & onion chopped in cubes (1cup)
Sweet lime juice- 3tbsp
Salt as per taste
Oregano as per taste
Chilli flakes as per taste
Pepper powder to taste.
Method
In a bowl add all the ingredients and mix them & serve.
Lime juice can also be added
