Women love to dress up and when it is an occasion that is so close to their heart like Karwa Chauth, women in India just do everything to look their best. Karwa Chauth is celebrated with great religious fervor and enthusiasm by women all over India but predominantly in Northern India. This year it falls on October 8th and needless to say women in India are busy preparing for this special occasion.
Though married women follow this festival the most, there are some women who also observe fast on Karwa Chauth for their respective boyfriends and fiancés. This festival is basically celebrated by married women for their partner’s long life and safety. Women do not consume even a drop of water until they see the moon. While this day is about fasting and offering prayers, it is also a day when women deck up and look festive ready. This Karwa Chauth let us tell you how to look drop dead gorgeous in traditional attire.
Wear shades of reds, pink and peach sari
The highlight about Karwa Chauth is the color red, however it need not be the bright red always. One can look their best even with a tint of the festive color and can even opt pastel shades which are heat friendly like pinks and peach. Opt for something in Khadhi, linen or silk cotton which not only look elegant but are cool to wear in hot cities like Mumbai.
If you are not too comfortable wearing a sari for an entire day, you could also go for a traditional yet trendy western cut kurta teamed up with a palazzo or an Anarkali.
A chic hairstyle
Since you have to spend the whole day fasting, without a drop of water, it is best that you tie your hair in such a way that it is easy, comfortable and not messy. So the best option for you to is opt for a bun, pony tail or a plate.
Opt for subtle yet classy makeup
Since your outfit will already have bright colors, make sure you do not go overboard with your makeup. Go for nude shades for eye shadows so that eye makeup is subtle. You can however definitely apply a red lipstick because it adds a touch of glam.
Minimal accessorizing
Yes it is a day for women to get all decked up but that does not mean you wear every piece of jewelry stocked up in your wardrobe. Keep it bare minimum and wear just one or two heavy pieces of jewelry.
Stree wishes all the gorgeous ladies a very Happy Karwa chauth!!!
