It is almost two days since Monica Nath, a resident of Mumbai had handed over a suspicious looking woman carrying a healthy baby to Wadala police station, the cops are still clueless about the connection between the baby and the woman.
According to police, the woman claims the child to be her daughter. However, looking at her and her behavior, this claim appears to be false. “The woman acts in a strange and weird manner and appears to be mentally unstable at times. On the other hand the baby, who is around two months old, is healthy, clean and was wearing good clothes,” said an official from RPF, to whom the case has been transferred.
“Investigations are going on and the child and the woman will be sent for DNA test,” he said.
It may be recalled that on Wednesday, Monica Nath, a resident of Mumbai found a woman with a child boarding a train on the harbour line. Monica Nath travels for work to Airoli, Navi Mumbai every day.
Recalling the day Nath said, “I was on my way back home on Wednesday when I observed a lady in my coach who was travelling with a child. The child was so cute and adorable that no one could resist having a look. However, I became suspicious as the lady in no way looked the mother of the baby she was carrying. The child was healthy, neat and clean. However the woman was in shatters and was wearing dirty, torn clothes. To cross check if she was the mother of the child, I just casually asked her simple question like, how old was the child, the name or if the baby was a girl or a boy? The woman had no answer to any of these questions and simply stared blankly.”
On enquiring further, the lady said she will be getting down at Kurla station. However, Monica felt something amiss and with the help of co passengers, prevented the lady from alighting at Kurla. “I immediately contacted the RFP and we got down at GTB station. The woman tried to flee but we held her firmly. We finally took the lady along with the child to police station and a case was registered at Wadala,” informs Monica.
During medical examination the cops found that the baby girl was around two months-old.
To ensure that the baby unites with her family Monica has now launched a search campaign on Facebook page.
