Navi Mumbai: Heart Foundation, NGO along with Navi Mumbai’s NRI Police station in a bid to spread awareness about Drug, Tobacco & Sexual Abuse in various civic & private schools in its area, launched a month long program starting 2nd August 2016.
Over 150 students from 8-10 standards were taught about how to know the good, bad and secret touches, being aware of unnatural moves etc and the bad affects of drugs tobacco and alcohol.
“The whole month, we plan to go to different schools, put up banners for four days, deliver lectures and counsel them. In this tender age, a small harmless behavior can spoil the girl’s whole life and this is what we want to talk and let them know about the fatal consequences” said, Senior Police Inspector, Shekhar Bagde of NRI Police Station. “It has always been my desire to teach to these children the dangers of drug usage and Tobacco products in schools and colleges so we have taken this initiative with Heart Foundation to reach out to the youngsters” he added.
“We need to educate children against drug addiction and make them realize how important it is for them to stay away from it and also share it to their friends who are into such habits” said Dr. Jayakar Ellis, Founder President, Heart Foundation. “Children these days are confronted with various addiction, peer pressure, broken homes and pressure to perform. Home surroundings also play a vital role in these areas. Thus we plan to continue such programs and touch the hearts of these tender ones under our project called PACT (Prevention of Abuse of Children and Teens),” he added.
“We hope awareness programs are conducted for the teachers, students and their parents as this program is very informative” said Harish Diwakar, Head Master of the School. “I am very happy that such program is happening in our school which is the need of the hour” he added. The above program was done under the guidance of Shri Hemant Nagrale – CP, Shri Prashant Khaire – DCP, zone 1 and support of PSI Ahirroa, Mr. Sable, Mrs. Deshmukh and Mr. Rathod.
