Mumbai: Puratos India, subsidiary of Puratos international group, one of the world’s largest bakery, patisserie and chocolate ingredients manufacturer announced the graduation of the first batch of students from its non-profit bakery school ‘Puratos Sanskaar Foundation School’ located in Navi Mumbai. A first of its kind, the ‘Puratos Sanskaar Foundation School’ engages with underprivileged children, training them in bakery skills and creating career opportunities for them in the exciting world of Bakery Patisserie and Chocolate.
Moving from simple breads to complex desserts over a 2 year intensive period, 16 children who have completed the course this year are now equipped to make a career in the exciting world of Bakery, Patisserie and Chocolate.
While felicitating these students, Puratos India also announced that 100% of this students had now been placed in top bakeries such as Sassy Spoon, Boulangier, Oven Fresh, Indulge and Cakes & Coffee to name a few. Three students were also selected to work at Puratos India.
Mr Dhiren Kanwar, MD – India, Area Director South Asia, Puratos Food Ingredients India Pvt. Ltd said, “India’s changing tastes has meant an explosion within the Bakery space. This requirement has meant a huge demand for trained Bakery and Patisserie technicians. By training this first batch of 17 and 18 year olds in the art of Bakery, Patisserie & Chocolate, Puratos India is also hoping to fill the skilled labor shortage that is faced by bakery industry within India”.
Armed with internships under their belt, successful students have been made industry ready, replete with soft skills as they graduate.
